About three weeks ago I put today's date on my calendar because today was the release of a new album from a band that I love...and today...I'm listening to it...and it's awesome. It was worth the wait.
Last week I went to a concert another band I love was putting on that I had on my calendar for months. It was fantastic. So much positive energy came from that show, it carried me through my week.
Our children anxiously put Christmas on their calendars and count down the days. Every spring they know exactly how many days of school are left until summer break. They look forward to their next soccer game, swim meet, or science/invention day at the science club and count down the days. There is joy in the anticipation and the payoff is blissful.
Ask yourself honestly - if you are in a relationship that is "over" but you're still in it, when was the last time you put something on your calendar that you counted down the days to? That you anxiously and with a smile, awaited to come to you? As the joy fades from our lives, it's almost unnoticed how many little things slip away.
I hope this blog serves as a wake-up call for you to put something on your calendar that you really, truly look forward to. It will make you a better YOU.
